Luxor African Film Festival opens the call for submissions for the African Filmmaking workshop by Egyptian director Saad Hendawy

LAFF has opened the call for submissions to its African Filmmaking workshop which is will be led this year by Egyptian director Saad Hendawy, whose filmography includes various remarkable works including: (Al Saffah – The Seventh Heaven – Love Situation) among other shorts and documentaries, which have garnered many international awards.

The application for submission is available on LAFF official website http://www.luxorafricanfilmfestival.com/ and its open to all African youths who would like to participate, during the 10th edition of the festival. The workshop’s terms of eligibility require the applicant to have made at least one previous film that showcases their talent, the workshop spans over 10 days and concludes with each of the participants directing a short film shot on location in Luxor, and later screened on the last day of the festival.

Director Azza Elhusseiny, director of LAFF, has stated that this workshop is one of the most important events on the festival due to its role in shaping new generations of creative talents in Africa, the workshop started with the festival since its inception and was led by Tunisian director Rihda Behi, Egyptian screenwriter Hany Fawzy, Egyptian director Samir Seif and Egyptian cinematographer Kamal Abdel Aziz. On the 2nd edition it was let by the great Ethiopian director Haile Gerima and it was highly successful with many of its alumni garnering prestigious international awards. The 8th edition was led by the great Egyptian director Khairy Beshara.
